Fun at Funderland

We spent a couple hours on Saturday at Funderland! We went specifically to ride the train. For some reason, when I told Edie that Beebe, Tyler and Conrad were coming, she kept saying, "Aunt Beebe, Uncle Tyler, Baby Conrad, Grandpa Stewart ride the train!" She kept saying it, and wouldn't let up. Of course, when we got to Funderland, there was a sign up saying the train was closed for maintenance! The kids had fun on all the little rides, anyway, and they ended up opening up the train before we left, so Edie got her wish after all (except the Grandpa Stewart part. You're just going to have to come up here, Dad.)

Dean was a little nervous about the Dragon ride at first and wanted Drew to hold his hand. Of course, right when the ride started, Dean grabbed onto the lap bar and Drew's hands went up in the air! After it was all over, Dean said it was great, but the look on his face tells another story!

Conrad and Edie rode the fishie ride all by themselves! What big kids!

The log ride. Again, Dean looks nervous at the beginning of the "big drop", but he said it was fun. Poor Conrad didn't get to ride this one. Tyler couldn't convince the ride operator that even though he wasn't 2 yet, he could still handle the thrills.
YIPPEE! The train is open for business!
Edie on the "horsies". Conrad rode the Merry-Go-Round, too, but wasn't happy, so I didn't get a picture of him.
Drew and Dean's last ride of the day was the airplanes. This one was more Dean's speed, I think.
Funderland is pretty old, Pie went there when he was little and remembers it was a bit run-down then, but it is still fun for the little ones.

I'm sorry, Conrad!!

The Monsons came to visit! What fun! Little Conrad is HUGE and very cute, and Beebe and Tyler are nice, too.

This morning, I was in charge of Edie and Conrad for an hour or so while Pie and Tyler took the boys out for doughnuts and a little tour of Pie's new office. It all started out happily enough. They ate oatmeal together, played legos, looked cute in their jammies, etc.
Then things took a turn for the worse. Conrad, who pulls himself up on anything and everything to walk around like he owns the world, tried to pull up on the empty plastic box the legos are stored in. The box tipped over fast and hit him right in the face! The poor little guy! His lip immediately started to bleed and he was very sad that I was the only grown up around. I gave him a sippy cup of ice water and, tough kid that he is, pretty soon he's walking around happy again, but with a fat lip to show for the morning's activities.
I hope Conrad doesn't associate our house with pain from now on.

We went to Funderland later in the day. I'll get pictures of that up pretty soon.

The Daring Young Men on Their Flying Trapeze

"Come outside, Mom! Come see our new trick!"
This is what happens when I leave the boys in the backyard to go inside and start dinner.

My haircut

OK, OK, OK. Both Karin and Katie have shown the world their short hair. I guess it's my turn. I've been putting it off because I'm not a big fan of my looks during the 3rd trimester. So I'm swallowing my pride--just a bit, did you notice how drastically I croppped the picture?! It's much shorter than my sisters', and it's even shorter in the back, it's an "A line" cut.

Someone should bug Matt about putting up a picture with his short hair. Or is he growing it out again already?

Pawkaley Shoes

Edie tries to say "sparkly shoes", but it comes out more like "pawkaley shoes", or "broccoli shoes". But we know what she means! We got them a few days ago at Target, and Edie will not take them off!

We're going today to buy fabric for a toddler-sized Dorothy costume. It doesn't matter to me that Edie doesn't have a clue who Dorothy Gale is, she is going to dress like her for Halloween because she'll be so dang cute! I tried to convince Dean and Drew to be the Tin Man and Scarecrow, but they refused. Not cool enough, I guess. Edie will probably have an opinion next year, too, so I'll make the most of this year. All I have to do its tell her she can wear her sparkly shoes, and she'll do anything!

We're back to normal

I took "after" pictures of all the rooms that now have beautiful ceilings, but you just can't tell that a whole lot was done in a photo. And I had trouble posting them up, anyway, so you'll just have to imagine how lovely they are. Just know that we are back to normal, and our guest room is empty so we're accepting visitors again. We love visitors!

Please pardon our dust

We're under construction. Again. I understand that this is what I signed up for when we bought a fixer-upper, but it still stinks. I mean it really does stink. I think it's the smell this time that is bugging me the most.

After Pie experienced removing the popcorn ceiling downstairs, he swore he would never do it again. That we would save our precious pennies and pay someone to do it for us. (Plus, the 15 foot ceilings in the living room are scary to him.) So the time has come, and Tuesday we packed up and moved everyone down to the guest room/Pie's office so our bedrooms and living room could get destroyed. At least that is what it looks like now.

But the removal is done, so the musty smell of wet popcorn ceiling stuff will soon be replaced by the smell of fresh ceiling paint. The guy promised that Edie will be back in her crib by tonight. YAY! Hopefully 2 nights of freedom haven't turned her off of her bed completely. I'm not ready to transistion her to a Big Girl Bed just yet.

The next big project at our house: knocking down that "lovely" fireplace.

It's Dilly Time!

Every now and then, we have our FHE in the car, on the way to the local Dairy Queen. Pie calls it "Dilly Time" because they used to just get Dilly bars. They have now branched out to sundaes and chocolate dipped cones. Edie is the only one who still gets a Dilly.

The kids love these FHEs, and the parents do too. The lesson has to be short enough to fit into the 5-10 minute ride to DQ, and the activity and treat are all-in-one. The only drawback: cleaning up Edie after it's all over.
She is currently in the bath tub, getting soaped up by her daddy. I'm in charge of the car seat. :(
