Hop 'til you drop

Sock Hop 2007 was a blast! We all enjoyed junk food for dinner and then danced the night away.

Edie loved her little poodle skirt. I was glad it was purple. All the other girls wore pink skirts and she would have blended in and gotten lost in the crowd. The boys certainly did. All the boys wore the exact same outfit and I trouble keeping tracked of mine!

Dean is still a little ladies' man and spent the evening with a cute little girl. Afterwards, I mentioned to him about "no dating 'til 16". It might become an issue with him!

The Monsons came with us. Conrad had fun with one of the balloons and then took it upon himself to entertain the moms in one corner of the room. He was just too cute. This looks like his version of break-dancing!

If you're interested in next year's Sock Hop, just do what the Monson's are doing. Move here and you, too, can dance the night away with lots of school kids!

Edie's New Bed

She loves it. Her room is just about done. I just need to make a window valence out of the bed skirt that came with the comforter. The boys' room is almost done, too. I'll take a picture of that new set-up when I get one more little project finished in there. Evan's room is nowhere near "done". I feel like furniture is just thrown in there. Nothing cute about it. I guess when he tells me he wants trains or puppy dogs or a sports bedroom, then I'll get to work on it.

Dear Kind Sir,

To the kind man who rang by doorbell repeatedly this morning,

Thank you so much for walking my little girl back up to her house instead of running her over with your motor home or kidnapping her. In my surprise and horror of seeing her outside with a stranger, I forgot my manners and didn't thank you at the time.

I was feeding the baby and just thankful for some quiet. I thought she had gone down to watch TV, but as you know, she escaped from the house into the front yard and was attempting to walk to Wal-Mart by herself because she's big now. We have baby locks on all the doors, but today she broke through. Please don't call CPS. She has always kept me on my toes, as you can see by glancing through this blog's archives. It's obviously now reaching dangerous levels. I can't get her to keep her seatbelt on in the car, either.

Thanks again,
Ann

"Matching"

Per Emily's request, I present to you Edie's idea of "matching". She is dressing herself these days and some days I can't figure out why she thinks a certain shirt goes with certain pants. Today it's easy to read her mind, though. Stripes match stripes. It's sometimes hard to take her out in public like this, but to try and change her mind usually requires more energy than I am will to spend on such a task. I was listening to a friend of mine lament at her lack of daughters (she's due with her 4th boy soon) because girl clothes are so much cuter. Really, though, I only got about 2 years to dress Edie how ever I wanted. Now she is in charge of her fashion--unless we're going to church or getting a picture taken, etc., then I put my foot down!

PS- Thanks for all the great Primary ideas! A talent show is already scheduled for May and a water activity in August! Y'all are awesome!
