She's definently a 2-year-old

Edie has always been a little mischievious. But now that she is 2, I catch her making a big mess more often. I decided to document them with pictures so you can enjoy her antics along with me. Edie loves lotion. After her bath, she always insists on it. Here she decided to do a little extra moisturizing on her own (along with the carpet and wall in her bedroom!)

Edie found the box of hot chocolate packets in our pantry. I discovered her after she had taken a bite out of each one, leaving one on each stair, and sprinkled hot chocolate mix over her baby doll. On the positive side, the vacuum smelled nice and chocolatey when we were cleaning up!

I didn't take a picture of her with a purple permanent marker drawing on the kitchen table a couple of weeks ago. (I'm not a first-time mom- I know to keep the permanent markers out of reach. In my defense, I didn't know they weren't washable. Dean got them for his birthday in an art set.) The purple marks are slowly fading, which is nice.

I'll continue to take pictures of Edie being a toddler, so stay tuned for further updates.

Pool Fun

Last week we went to the pool to celebrate Dean's birthday. He was allowed to bring one friend. Of course, he picked one of the girls from preschool! Matt, Katie, Beebe, Conrad and Grandma Stewart went, too. It was lots of fun. See for yourself:

BASEBALL IS OVER!

Yeah! Yipee! Yahoo! Yee-Haw! Hooray! Last week both boys had their last games. We are a little excited about it. Baseball is fun, and I'm sure we'll do it all again next year, but it takes up so much time. We now get our Saturdays back to do whatever we want (and our Monday/Wednesdays and our Tuesday/Thursdays!)

Toothless Wonder

Finally! Drew has been waiting and waiting to lose a tooth, and yesterday it happened! The tooth had been loose for a long time. Yesterday he decided to just pull it out. He did it all by himself- no string, no nothing. I came home from being gone all morning, and he rushed out to show me. He's very excited about it.

Incidentally, to add to my list, the toothfairy forgot to visit us last night. It's a good thing Drew found the tooth on the floor by his bed this morning. He thought she couldn't find it under his pillow, and that's why he didn't find a little something from her!

the Birthday Kids

It is the season of birthdays here at our house. Sunday was Dean and Edie's. Dean turned 5 and Edie turned 2. Lots (but not all) of the Stewarts came to help celebrate. Here are some pictures of the fun. They both got a swing in the tree in the backyard, but I don't have a great picture of Edie in hers, yet. Pie really did all the work, but I'm taking some of the credit, anyway!

Lots and lots of presents-- it was almost like Christmas morning!

How we spent our Memorial Day weekend

Here are before and after pictures of our garden area beyond our backyard fence. You can't even tell we had a garden back there last year. We were "blessed" with tons of weeds this spring.

Pie spent all day on Saturday with a weed eater and/or roto-tiller in hand. He cleared our old garden space and another (bigger) one, too. By Monday morning, the ground was ready for leveling and planting. The boys went with Pie to the garden store to pick out some plants. They got tomatoes, zuccini, yellow squash, strawberries, watermelon, cantelope and lots and lots of corn. We've never done corn before--we're experimenting.

Drew and Dean did a great job helping in the garden. They both have small injuries to prove they were out there working, and both were happy with the ice cream they got when the job was done. In a couple of months, we'll get them out there again to start picking veggies.
