Stinky

I have one quick story (that Karin said I had to share) before we run off to another baseball game. I'm sorry in advance for its stinky nature...

This morning, first thing, Edie pooped in her diaper. Nothing really unusual about that. I said, "Hey, you're stinky. Let's go change your diaper." Edie looked at me and said, "No poopy, Austi poopy!" Ha, ha! He hasn't been here in a week and a half! Poor Austin, he gets blamed for everything!

Drew loves baseball, too! This year he has moved up a division, and is now hitting off of a pitching machine. This is quite a bit harder for him than off of a tee, or coach pitch. We cross our fingers every time he's up at bat. One game last week he got 3 hits, and his coach was so impressed with his improvement that he gave Drew the game ball! (Usually his average is 1 hit per game!) He loves it though, and he has a great coach. Most of the kids on the team have been on one of his past teams, and he likes hanging out with his team mates again.

Dean is loving his first year of tee-ball! He's the littlest on the team, by far, but he's actually pretty good. He still needs lots of help, though, just like all the players. One example: The coaches are out on the field and up at bat with their players. Every time Dean goes up to bat, the coach positions him on the left side of the tee, where a right-hander would bat from. Dean totally goes along with it, even though he's never batted from that side! I have to yell "He's a lefty, Coach!" and the coach switches him to the other side and Dean bats great. It makes me smile each time, and wonder when Dean will remember which side of the tee he bats from!

Pie went to the Masters

For all of you who don't know (like me, before I married a golfer) the Masters is the Super Bowl of golf. It was 2 weeks ago in Georgia, and Pie felt like he won the lottery when he got the chance to go. He took tons of pictures and wanted them posted for all to see. There were a lot, so we created a new blog for them. If you're interested, check them out.

The Giant Redwoods

OK, so here they are. It took 2 posting sessions since for some reason uploading photos was taking a long time today. But here they are. The best of my photos from Yosemite last week.

We got to the park on Wednesday afternoon, unpacked the cars and immediately went to the Mariposa Grove to see the giant redwoods. Very cool, and quite cold. We weren't really prepared for the snow, but the kids did great (except for one poop emergency with Dean. Thanks again, Mom!)

Hike to Yosemite Falls, Thursday

We stuck to the easy "hikes" (they were actually just walks, I think) It was all the little ones could handle. Neither Edie or Adam wanted to ride in the stroller for very long.



I think it's Beebe and Tyler's camera that had the great shots of Matt, Tyler and Beebe climbing all the way up to the falls. They were awesome! Could someone pass those on, please? And maybe the one of the bobcat, too?!

We were lucky to get a cabin (#80) with a small stream running next to it and a swing hung between two trees. What a nice place to live for 2 days!

Easter Morning

Just a few pictures from this morning...


Matt, Karin, Adam & Austin were here, too, but I didn't get any pictures of Karin's kids-- they slept through the fun. They really didn't care, though. They found their baskets when they woke up and played with the big kids until it was time to go to church.

I'm still trying to sort through all the Yosemite pictures. There are some good ones. I'll get them posted as soon as I can.

The Ladies Man

I went to the second half of Dean's preschool today. They had their Easter party and egg hunt and I wanted some cute pictures. Of course, after taking 2 pictures, the batteries in my camera died. So I didn't get to document all the cute kids hunting for eggs on the playground.
But I did get this picture. (Don't let Dean's face in the picture fool you, he loves the attention from the ladies!) It's a very typical scene. All the girls love Dean. And Dean loves them. I've had to remind many of them (my own little guy included) that kissing is not allowed at school. I told Dean this again today and he told me "But Mom! I didn't kiss her, she kissed me!" What's a mom to do?

I wasn't there for this next little episode in "As the Preschool Turns", but I heard the same version from 2 other moms, so I think it's accurate. Lots of the girls wore Easter dresses for the party today. Dean noticed Sara's dress and complimented her on it. "Sara, you look very pretty in that dress." Sara says, "Thanks, Dean" with a cute little smile on her face. Madison (who is usually Dean's girl of choice) overhears this conversation and gets very mad. "NO! She does NOT look very pretty in that dress, Dean! SARA DOES NOT LOOK PRETTY!"
